Careers and Training

We are a service-based business, with a client-facing team, so are keenly aware of the role that all of our staff, from trainee to senior partner play in expanding our client base and driving our continuing success. This is the reason we take great care in the recruitment, training, development and retention of all our qualified staff.

Our team is key to maintaining our reputation in a highly competitive market, so we make it our duty to support and train all employees throughout their careers so they are fully able to meet client requirements. We also encourage active participation in technical debate and peer review.

Wilson Wright is a registered training office for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and an approved training office for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Emma Brown – Senior Tax Adviser

Why you joined Wilson Wright

I joined Wilson Wright as a Senior Tax Adviser in May 2014 because of its strong tax department and the quality of the tax advisory work that the firm attracts. The firm’s longevity has attracted an exceptional client base who deal in many different industries, though most have one similarity in the fact that they are entrepreneurial, owner-managed businesses and this perfectly suits my mixed tax expertise.

What you enjoy most about working here

There is a real sense of camaraderie at Wilson Wright, we are very much all in this together. The strength and depth of tax knowledge extends past the tax department to all of the partners and this enables a supportive environment where we work as a team. (more…)

What Wilson Wright is like socially

Regular organised events, together with spur of the moment after work drinks, ensures a great social atmosphere outside the office.

Anthony Palazzo – Trainee

Why you joined Wilson Wright

My goal was to train at a firm where I would be able obtain as much direct client contact and responsibility as possible. WW has certainly provided this, whilst also giving me the ability to develop a broad range of skills and experience from a variety of clients in different industries.

What you enjoy most about working here

The team at Wilson Wright make the experience of working in a top London practice thoroughly worthwhile. Everyone is approachable and you have the support of professionals with a wealth of knowledge and experience in taxation, audit, business services and accountancy.

What your experience has been of the formal, ICAEW related training/support

The support for trainees is fantastic. Wilson Wright provide a flexible training structure, allowing me to organise my exams and courses to best suit me. The dedicated training partner (who also trained here) is always available to offer guidance and advice.

Tom Rideal – Trainee

Why you joined Wilson Wright

I joined Wilson Wright because I wanted to join a small to medium sized company as opposed to a larger practice, reason being at large practices the work you’ll do on audits tends to be highly repetitive and you’ll be working on the same client for months on end. At smaller practices however the scope of the tasks you are given and the breadth / variety of clients and their industries keeps the work challenging and most importantly fresh.

What you enjoy most about working here

One of the things I have enjoyed about working here, apart from the fact that it has met the above point about the work being various and fresh, is that I was quickly given real responsibility through leading audits at an early stage of my training contract which not only speeds up your understanding of how audits and companies work at a higher level, but also gives you more ownership over the work you do. Additionally there is a good split of work between accounts prep and audits which means there is a good split of being in and out of the office. (more…)
